Autostart System

The Selectronics AUTOSTART system provides the automobile owner with the convenience of starting their vehicle's engine from a remote location of up to three hundred feet away with a handy pocket transmitter. This means the vehicle's interior can be heated or air-conditioned to comfort level by the time the drive is ready to enter the vehicle.

Windshields will be defrosted and clear and the engine temperature will have reached the proper operating range before driving. This reduces wear caused by strain before lubricants have reached effectiveness.

The AUTOSTART consists of two parts: the pocket transmitter and the vehicle mounted receiver control unit. The driver presses a button on the transmitter. An electronic computer in the vehicle unit intelligently controls the process of starting once the signal is received from the transmitter.

If the engine starts successfully on the first try the control resets and awaits the next start command. If the first attempt to start is unsuccessful the control pauses and tries again. It repeats this up to five times automatically. If the engine still won't start the control shuts down and leaves an indicator glowing to alert the driver of the unsuccessful attempts. Thus the battery is not run down trying to start a mal-functioning engine.

The pocket transmitter may also be used to stop the engine in case of delays or so the AUTOSTART may be used just to remotely exercise the engine during inclement weather. The timer option available for the AUTOSTART allows the owner to program the system to start and run the vehicle a while periodically to keep its battery charged and engine exercised.
