Current Failure Detector
CFD-1
The CFD-1 monitors an AC or pulsating DC current and keeps its output relay energized as long as the flow exceeds 10 milliamperes. Sensing is done non-contact by passing a current carrying conductor through the sense loop where the flow is inductively monitored.
If the current level drops below threshold for a period of time greater than the delay set-point the relay de-energizes switching its SPDT contact output. The delay is adjustable from .25 seconds to 30 seconds. An LED indicator on the CFD-1 circuit board glows when current is sensed.
Applications for the CFD-1 include: DC motor field-loss detection, equipment failure alert, safety interlock, power failure detection, heater burn-out detection, blown fuse or circuit breaker detection, thermal overload sensing, etc.
The CFD-1 is powered by 12-24 volts AC or DC at 50 MA. The output contacts are rated at 2 amperes. There is no maximum current sensing limit, and the minimum is 10 milliamperes. Other CFD models provide adjustable current threshold.
