Environmental Condition Alert

The ECA is a multi-function monitoring and alarm system designed for the poultry and livestock industry. Its purpose is to make local and/or remote personnel aware of any urgent or emergency condition within the animal's environment.

The ECA is installed at a convenient location on the farm. A pair of any size wires can be used to connect the ECA to any sensor up to thousands of feet away. Normally-closed circuitry is used to provide trouble supervision so a wire break will cause a trouble alarm.

The ECA is also connected by a pair of wires to the siren speaker located outside where it can be easily heard throughout the farm.

Power output is also provided during alarms which can trip a contactor to control any other equipment such as fans, conveyors, pumps, and lighting. The ECA also contains a built-in telephone dialer which calls the programmed numbers and plays a recorded voice message to alert the called party of environmental condition alarm.

The ECA is powered by 12 volts AC obtained from the ACS plug-in fuse-protected transformer which may be inserted and secured by a screw into any convenient 117 VAC outlet. The low-voltage and low current consumption means that low-voltage small-gauge wire can be used throughout the system, and it need not be run in conduit to conform to electrical codes. This also means that there is no hazard of short-circuit overload, fire, explosion, or shock.

A permanent rechargeable battery is contained in the ECA which can power it up to 1 year in the event of utility power failure. This battery is automatically kept charged and never needs replacing.

The ECA is housed in a sturdy steel enclosure with lock and key. All switches and controls, except the CANCEL/TEST button, are on the inside to prevent tampering by unauthorized personnel. This button is all that is needed for normal operation so there is no possibility of forgetting to turn something on or leaving a switch in the wrong position.

The system is maintenance free and has no-consumables or parts that wear out or must be replaced.
